今や巨大天守を持つ城のほとんどは、鉄筋コンクリートの復元もしくは模擬城がほとんどで、名古屋城もそのひとつになってしまった。このなってしまったというところがミソで、昭和の初め頃は、すべてがそのまま残っていた。というのが大阪城との大きな違いだ。挙げ句の果てに本丸御殿まであったと言うから、ある意味、姫路城よりたいしたものだった。それも国宝として…。しかしこれも全て過去の話。悔やんでも仕方ない。でも、本丸御殿のある写真を見ると、寂しさがひしひしと沸いてくる。

お城をめぐっていて城内でよく耳にするのが、「ここは鉄筋コンクリートだからダメだ」とか、「エレベータは付けたらダメだろう」など復元天守に対する悲しい意見。観光目当てで建てた城もあるだろうが、そう言わないで欲しいと思う。確かに、姫路、彦根など当時のままの城を見てしまうと、ダメだと思うかもしれない。しかし復元にかかった労力、お金を考えると、馬鹿にできたものじゃない。姫路城ですら倒壊寸前のものを、昭和の築城と言われる大改修で、一旦バラバラにして建て直しているのだから。これには国のお金がつぎ込まれている。しかし、地方の城はどうか。国がお金を出すわけじゃない。大阪城などは市民の寄付金だ。名古屋城も寄付金を募って本丸御殿を再建しようとしている。（現在建築中）本来、無かったモノを見ることができるだけで、良しとしなければならないのに、文句を言う筋はない。儲けのためかも知れないが、ありがたいのではないのか。（そんなに儲かるとも思えないが…。）いやなら見なければいい。東京ディズニーランドや、USJと同じと考えればどうだろう。そこでその時代の雰囲気を楽しめ。下らないことをほざいていないで、他に考えさせられることがある。例えばこの名古屋城。悲しいことに重要文化財の西南隅櫓に、何処ぞの間抜けどもが大きな落書きをしている。姫路城でも見た。アホな学生がやる柱や壁に相合い傘の落書き。城内は禁煙ですのアナウンスを無視してたばこを吸ういい歳こいたバカおやじなど。こんなヤカラをほって置くと、そのうち国宝も全部、鉄筋コンクリートの城になりかねないのではないか。エレベータ大いに結構。足の丈夫なモラルの無い奴に見せるより、車イスの人や障害者に見せてやれ！です。
